03 Answers and one-line notes

# Answer One-line note
1 460 cm 1 m = 100 cm, so 4.6 x 100 = 460 cm; the decimal point moves two places right.
2 3.5 L 1000 mL = 1 L, so 3500 / 1000 = 3.5 L.
3 8000 g 1 kg = 1000 g, so 8 x 1000 = 8000 g.
4 2300 m 2 x 1000 = 2000, then add 300 to get 2300 m.
5 1050 g 1 kg = 1000 g, so 1.05 x 1000 = 1050 g; the 5 in the hundredths place is 50 g.
6 705 cm 7 x 100 = 700, then add 5 cm to get 705 cm; 5 cm is not 50 cm.
7 1750 mL 2.5 L = 2500 mL, and 2500 – 750 = 1750 mL.
8 1650 kg 1.2 tonnes = 1200 kg, and 1200 + 450 = 1650 kg.
9 375 m 3 km = 3000 m, and 3000 / 8 = 375 m.
10 6400 m 1 km = 1000 m, so 6.4 x 1000 = 6400 m; multiplying by 100 gives the wrong 640 m.

04 What to do after marking

  • After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
  • Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
  • Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
