Tutor Fee Standards

Tutor Fee Standards

  • 2026-08-23
  1. Tutor Enrollment & Membership:
1.1 Anyone who successfully registers and is approved by TutorZone automatically becomes a certified TutorZone tutor, with no enrollment fee.
1.2 Members enjoy free SMS notifications for case updates.
  2. Tutor Case Handling Fees:
2.1 Once a tutor confirms acceptance of a case via WhatsApp, they are deemed to agree to the following fee terms.
2.2 Tutors have the right to decline tutoring requests recommended by TutorZone without paying any rejection fee.
2.3 After a tutor confirms acceptance of a case, TutorZone will calculate the referral fee based on the first two-and-a-half lessons’ tuition amount.
2.4 TutorZone will provide the student’s contact number and lesson address two days before the tutor’s first lesson.
Note: After a tutor obtains the student’s contact details, any changes to lesson times must be requested through the TutorZone platform and must not be negotiated directly with the student. Any changes take effect only after official confirmation by TutorZone.
2.5 TutorZone will collect the above referral fees directly from the student; the tutor must not collect fees directly from the student during this period.
2.6 From the first two-and-a-half lessons onward, the tutor should collect tuition fees directly from the student (i.e., the tutor begins receiving full tuition income).
  3. No-show and Case Cancellation:
3.1 If a tutor, after accepting a case, cancels it for personal reasons (more than 72 hours before the first lesson), they must pay the referral fee for the first agreed lesson, plus a HKD 200 administrative fee.
3.2 If lessons cannot proceed due to natural disasters or force majeure events (e.g., typhoons, earthquakes), both parties should negotiate a solution, and TutorZone will handle it at its discretion.
3.3 If a tutor cannot teach due to illness or an emergency, they must notify TutorZone immediately and provide supporting documents within a reasonable time (e.g., 48 hours). TutorZone will negotiate make-up lessons, tutor replacement, or fee adjustments with the parent; this is not automatically treated as a no-show.
3.4 If the parent terminates the service due to the tutor’s responsibility issues (e.g., unexplained absence, lateness, providing false information), the tutor must pay the full first two-and-a-half lessons’ referral fee, plus a HKD 200 administrative fee.
  4. Cancellation of Accepted Cases:
4.1 If a tutor confirms acceptance of a case but cancels before the lesson begins and before receiving the student’s contact details, they must pay the referral fee for the first agreed lesson plus a HKD 200 administrative fee.
4.2 If a tutor confirms acceptance of a case, has received the student’s contact details, but cancels before the lesson begins, they must pay the full first two-and-a-half lessons’ referral fee plus a HKD 300 administrative fee.
4.3 Tutors must not arrange for someone else to teach in their place. If unable to teach, they should notify TutorZone staff immediately.
4.4 If a tutor voluntarily cancels a case after lessons have begun, they must pay the referral fee for the remaining agreed lessons, plus a HKD 200 administrative fee. For example: cancelling after completing the first lesson requires paying two lessons’ referral fee + HKD 200 administrative fee. Cancelling after the second lesson requires paying one lesson’s referral fee + HKD 200 administrative fee.
4.5 In the above situations, the tutor must notify TutorZone via WhatsApp within 24 hours of cancelling the case.
  5. Late Payment:
5.1 If payment is overdue by more than 5 days, the original fee plus a $100 surcharge applies.
5.2 If payment is overdue by more than 10 days, the original fee plus a $200 surcharge applies.
  6. Parent Termination of Service:
6.1 TutorZone implements a “First Lesson Trial at Half Price” policy:
    • Termination after the first lesson: the tutor receives 10% of the lesson’s referral fee as travel allowance.
    • Termination after two lessons: the tutor receives half a lesson’s tuition for the lessons taught that day. (Tutor payment is released only after the parent settles all tuition fees.)
    • Termination after three lessons: the tutor receives half a lesson’s tuition for the lessons taught that day. (Tutor payment is released only after the parent settles all tuition fees.)
6.2 If the parent terminates the service from the fourth lesson onward, the tutor will not receive any fees.
      6.3 Tutor Fee Protection Terms:
    • If the student fails to pay the first lesson’s fee before the second lesson, TutorZone will notify the tutor to suspend teaching.
    • If the student fails to pay the second lesson’s fee before the third lesson, TutorZone will notify the tutor to suspend teaching.
    • Even if no student fee is collected, TutorZone still pays the tutor 10% of the first lesson’s referral fee as travel allowance.
  7. Referral Fee Calculation Example:
7.1 The referral fee is determined based on the agreed regular number of lessons.
7.2 Temporary absence or rescheduling by the parent or tutor does not affect the total referral fee.
7.3 If the number or duration of lessons increases, the referral fee will be adjusted accordingly.
7.4 For example: at HKD 100 per lesson, the referral fee is the first two-and-a-half lessons (2.5 lessons) × HKD 100 = HKD 250.
  8. Important Notes:
8.1 Case confirmation, no-shows, and case cancellations are determined based on WhatsApp records between TutorZone staff and the tutor.
8.2 Referral fees and administrative fees are accepted only via PayMe, bank transfer, Hong Kong WeChat/Alipay, and FPS.
8.3 Any no-show (except force majeure) incurs a HKD 200 additional administrative fee.
8.4 Tutors must provide an accurate résumé and adhere to lesson times.
8.5 Failure to provide a valid payment receipt is treated as outstanding debt, with a 10% late fee.
8.6 In accordance with ICAC regulations, agreements must not be altered privately; violators will be subject to legal action.
  9. Contract Effective Date and Termination:
9.1 This contract takes effect from the date of the tutor’s successful registration.
  10. For details, please refer to the Tutor Fee Schedule.
TutorZone reserves the right to change the tutor fee system at any time.
