03 Answers and one-line notes

# Answer One-line note
1 80 words Divide 320 by 4 to get 80.
2 2 marks Eight divided by four is 2.
3 40 words per minute 200 divided by 5 is 40.
4 4 marks Three plus one is 4.
5 40 words per minute One thousand divided by 25 is 40.
6 2 marks per point Six divided by three is 2.
7 15 marks, 33.3 per cent of the paper Subtract 30 from 45 to get 15, which is about 33.3 per cent.
8 800 words in all, that is 40 words per minute Add 450 and 350 to get 800, then divide by 20.
9 80 per cent Twenty-four over thirty is 0.8.
10 4 marks; copied sentences normally earn no content marks Two points at 2 marks each give 4, and copying the text does not count as a point.

04 What to do after marking

  • After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
  • Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
  • Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
