03 Answers and one-line notes

# Answer One-line note
1 90 words Divide 540 by 6 to get 90.
2 2 marks Twelve divided by six is 2.
3 50 words per minute 250 divided by 5 is 50.
4 6 marks Four plus two is 6.
5 40 words per minute One thousand two hundred divided by 30 is 40.
6 2 marks per point Eight divided by four is 2.
7 15 marks, 30 per cent of the paper Subtract 35 from 50 to get 15, which is 30 per cent.
8 1 200 words in all, that is 40 words per minute Add 750 and 450 to get 1 200, then divide by 30.
9 90 per cent Twenty-seven over thirty is 0.9.
10 6 marks; copied sentences earn no content marks either Three points at 2 marks each give 6, so one missing point costs 2 marks.

04 What to do after marking

  • After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
  • Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
  • Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
