03 Answers and one-line notes
| # | Answer | One-line note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 70 words | Eight hundred and forty divided by twelve is seventy. |
| 2 | 3 marks | Fifteen divided by five is three. |
| 3 | 60 words a minute | Four hundred and eighty divided by eight is sixty. |
| 4 | 6 marks | Five plus one is six, so two language marks are lost. |
| 5 | 60 words a minute | Fifteen hundred divided by twenty-five is sixty. |
| 6 | 2 marks a point | Twelve divided by six is two. |
| 7 | About 35.7 per cent | Twenty-five over seventy is about 35.7 per cent. |
| 8 | 1 300 words at 50 words a minute | Six hundred plus seven hundred is 1 300, and 1 300 over 26 is 50. |
| 9 | 82.5 per cent | Thirty-three over forty is 0.825, that is 82.5 per cent. |
| 10 | 7 marks, 3 marks lost | Two times 1.5 is 3, plus 4 language marks is 7, so 3 of the 10 are lost. |
04 What to do after marking
- After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
- Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
- Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
