03 Answers and one-line notes

# Answer One-line note
1 360 words Add 120 and 240 to get 360.
2 40 minutes Eight plus thirty-two is 40.
3 20 marks Four times five is 20.
4 48 words Two hundred and forty divided by five is 48.
5 32 marks Twenty-four plus eight is 32.
6 5 marks per point Twenty divided by four is 5.
7 10 words per minute Two hundred and forty divided by 24 is 10.
8 24 marks Thirty-two times 0.75 gives 24.
9 60 words Subtract 240 from 300 to get 60.
10 75 per cent, so 25 per cent short 180 over 240 is 0.75, and short answers lose content marks.

04 What to do after marking

  • After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
  • Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
  • Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
