03 Answers and one-line notes
| # | Answer | One-line note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 80 marks | Add 30 and 50 to get 80. |
| 2 | 68 minutes | Subtract 12 from 80 to get 68. |
| 3 | 30 marks | Five times six is thirty. |
| 4 | One in four, that is 25 per cent | Only one of four options is right, so it is one in four. |
| 5 | 32 marks, that is 40 per cent | Sixteen times two is 32, and 32 out of 80 is 40 per cent. |
| 6 | 2 marks a minute | Forty divided by twenty is two. |
| 7 | 140 words a minute | Eight hundred and forty divided by six is 140. |
| 8 | 1.5 minutes | Thirty-three divided by twenty-two is 1.5. |
| 9 | 75 out of 80, that is 93.75 per cent | Twenty-eight plus 47 is 75, and 75 over 80 is 93.75 per cent. |
| 10 | 75 per cent | Forty-five out of sixty is 0.75, that is 75 per cent, not 45. |
04 What to do after marking
- After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
- Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
- Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
