Tutor Terms & Rules

  • 2026-08-23

Welcome to registering as a TutorZone tutor. Before you formally register as our tutor, we ask that you first read the full contents of the “Tutor Fee Guide” and the “Tutor Contract”. By completing your registration, you confirm that you fully understand the relevant terms and agree to comply with all of them.

Tutor Service Agreement

These terms and conditions (the “Service Agreement”) constitute a legal agreement between you and TutorZone (“we”, “the Company”, “TutorZone”) and govern your use of the services and property we provide. If you wish to use our services, you must agree to the following terms and conditions. By registering, enrolling or using our services, you confirm that you have read and agree to be bound by all terms and conditions of this Service Agreement. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our services.

1. Tutor application eligibility and registration procedure

1.1 All applicants must have completed at least Secondary 6 (Form 6) or above, and possess the capacity and legal eligibility to enter into contracts. 1.2 Tutors must provide true and accurate personal information, academic qualifications and teaching experience at the time of registration. 1.3 We reserve the right to reject an application, terminate a tutor’s eligibility, or require supplementary information without providing an explanation.

2. Platform role and legal liability

2.1 TutorZone only provides tutoring matching services and does not create an employment, agency or “job placement” relationship. 2.2 The Company shall not be responsible for any disputes between tutors and students, lesson arrangements, teaching quality, or loss of property or personal injury. 2.3 Tutors should assess matched cases and the risks involved on their own.

3. Tutor personal data and information assurance

3.1 The information provided by tutors, including but not limited to academic qualifications, identity documents, photographs and contact details, must be true, up to date and accurate. 3.2 If false or misleading information is provided, TutorZone has the right to terminate the tutor’s service eligibility, place the tutor on a blacklist, and reserve the right to recover any losses arising therefrom.

4. Tutor service and teaching responsibilities

4.1 After confirming a case, a tutor must attend lessons on time as agreed and must not change or cancel lesson times without authorisation. 4.2 If a tutor cannot teach due to special circumstances, the tutor must notify us immediately and may be required to provide relevant proof. 4.3 If a tutor is absent without notice, this will be treated as a breach of contract and the tutor must bear the related liability.

5. Fee arrangements and payment model

5.1 The referral fee is charged at the rate of “the total tuition for the first two-and-a-half lessons” and is paid by the student to TutorZone. 5.2 During the referral-fee settlement period, tutors must not collect tuition fees from students. 5.3 Tutors should provide lesson records to assist in the calculation of the referral fee, and must not require students to prepay any additional fees.

6. Case confirmation and contact arrangements

6.1 After a case is confirmed by TutorZone by phone or in writing, a tutor who raises no objection is deemed to have accepted the case. 6.2 If a tutor cancels a case after obtaining the student’s contact details, the tutor will be required to pay the corresponding compensation and administrative fee. 6.3 Tutors should report progress to TutorZone within 24 hours after the first lesson; otherwise, the confirmation procedure will be deemed incomplete.

7. Tutor cancellation and liability for breach

7.1 If a tutor cancels a case before any lesson begins, the tutor must pay the first lesson’s tuition (referral fee) plus a $200 administrative fee. 7.2 If the tutor cancels after obtaining the student’s contact details, the tutor must pay the first two-and-a-half lessons’ tuition (referral fee) plus a $200 administrative fee. 7.3 If a tutor terminates a case without reasonable explanation, the tutor must pay the total tuition (referral fee) for the remaining lessons plus a $200 administrative fee.

8. Special circumstances and lesson arrangement adjustments

8.1 In the event of force majeure such as natural disasters or illness, the tutor should immediately notify us and the student and negotiate make-up lesson arrangements. 8.2 Tutors must provide supporting documents (such as a medical certificate) in emergency situations for record and review purposes. 8.3 Absence without reasonable explanation will be treated as a breach of responsibility, and TutorZone has the right to claim compensation or cease cooperation.

9. Data use and confidentiality terms

9.1 Tutors agree that TutorZone may use the information they provide, including photographs and academic qualifications, for promotional, matching, management and administrative purposes. 9.2 TutorZone may, where necessary, provide part of a tutor’s information (such as proof of qualifications or a résumé) to parents/students. 9.3 Tutors must not transfer students’ information to third parties without authorisation, nor disclose students’ private information.

10. Prohibition of private transactions and unauthorised tutoring

10.1 Tutors must not arrange private tutoring with students without notifying TutorZone, even if contact has already been established between the parties. 10.2 Within six months after matching, tutors must not engage in any unauthorised tutoring or referral with that student. 10.3 Violators will be required to pay the administrative fees due, an additional penalty and a $3,000 surcharge; TutorZone may also claim compensation and recover evidence-handling costs.

11. Student breach and notification obligations

11.1 If a student fails to attend a lesson as agreed or cancels tutoring, the tutor should report this to us immediately so that administrative arrangements can be handled. 11.2 Tutors must not handle or reschedule lesson hours on their own; this may only be done with our approval.

12. Blacklist and reputation records

12.1 Anyone who breaches this Agreement, cancels maliciously, is frequently late without reason, or provides false information will be recorded and placed on a blacklist. 12.2 Once placed on the blacklist, the Company has the right to stop all matching and cooperation without further notice.

13. Termination of service and legal liability

13.1 TutorZone has the right to immediately terminate a tutor’s service eligibility and recover related fees in the event of breach, negligence or violation. 13.2 If a tutor or student needs to terminate the service early, they must notify the Company and bear all administrative fees due and related liability. 13.3 All unauthorised termination or tutoring acts constitute a breach of contract and will be pursued according to law.

TutorZone reserves the right to change these Tutor Terms & Rules at any time.
