Economics: the four layers of an essay
This paper is a data response plus two essays, and the essays come with no parts – the question will not break the layers for you. Marks need all four: definition, diagram, explanation, evaluation. Without the definition the analysis has nothing to stand on; without evaluation the answer stops at half.

Should drilling go by topic first or by year?
By topic first, then whole papers by year, then the mark scheme. The first third of the time goes topic by topic (8-10 years of the same topic back to back), the middle switches to timed whole papers, and the last fortnight only redoes the recurring errors from your log.

Subject-specific weighting for this timetable: Weeks 1-3: data response only. Turn the data into one trend sentence, then name two policy tools and their limits.
Weeks 4-6: micro essays in four fixed paragraphs – definition, supply and demand diagram, transmission, evaluation – with axes and shifts labelled.
Weeks 7-9: macro essays in the same four layers, with the evaluation naming time lags, elasticities and trade-offs against other objectives.
Weeks 10-12: full papers to time, reserving five minutes per essay for evaluation; redo only the answers that had none.
Use it properly: this is not a checklist to finish. Every week must keep time for redoing errors, or from week 9 you will be repeating the same batch.

Do not copy out questions. Per error record four things: question reference, which step failed (concept, wording, calculation), what the mark scheme requires, and the correct action next time.
Can the evaluation be a single sentence?
Yes, if it names the condition – which elasticity, which time horizon, which objective is sacrificed. “It depends” earns nothing.
Does a wrong diagram spoil the whole essay?
Yes: the diagram carries the explanation, so a mislabelled axis or a reversed shift undermines the transmission paragraph. Draw and label first, write second, then check they agree.
