Primary 5 Maths: Mixed Fraction Multiplication and Division — 10 Practice Questions with Answers

This set drills one habit: rewrite every division as multiplication first, then simplify once. Mark it afterwards, and write down which step went wrong on each miss.

Quick answer 10 questions, about 25 minutes. Answers and one-line notes are in section 03 — finish the whole paper before marking.

03 Answers and one-line notes

# Answer One-line note
1 3/10 Multiply across, then simplify to 3/10.
2 3/4 Flip the divisor: 5/6 × 9/10.
3 1 Turn the mixed number into 7/3 first, then cancel.
4 2/5 Dividing by 2 is multiplying by 1/2.
5 1 Rewrite every division as multiplication: 2/3 × 4/5 × 15/8 = 1.
6 4/9 Work left to right: 3/4 × 8/9 = 2/3, then × 2/3.
7 4/5 Brackets first (3/5), then multiply by 4/3.
8 1/4 kg Used 3/4 × 2/3 = 1/2 kg, so 3/4 − 1/2 = 1/4 kg remains.
9 8 pieces Divide in the same unit: 12/5 ÷ 3/10 = 8, and the count must be a whole number.
10 1/4 Simplify 5/8 × 4/15 = 1/6 first, then × 3/2 = 1/4.

04 What to do after marking

  • After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
  • Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
  • Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
