03 Answers and one-line notes

# Answer One-line note
1 went Last Sunday is past time, and go is irregular, so the past form is went.
2 cooked Yesterday points to the past, so the regular verb cook simply takes -ed.
3 began The past form of begin is began; begined is never correct.
4 did not watch A past negative uses did not plus the base verb watch.
5 Did / arrive A past question puts Did before the subject and keeps the base verb.
6 ago Ago follows the length of time, and the verb stays in the past.
7 stopped / waited Stop doubles its final consonant before -ed, giving stopped.
8 I did not go to the party last Friday. After did not the base verb go is required, never the past form went.
9 We were very happy last night. The plural subject We takes were, not was.
10 bought Buy becomes bought in the past; the common wrong answer buyed applies -ed by mistake.

04 What to do after marking

  • After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
  • Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
  • Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
