# Answer One-line note
1 lighter Light is one syllable, so it adds er.
2 youngest The superlative needs the and covers the whole family.
3 faster A one-syllable adjective takes er.
4 heavier After a consonant and y, change y to i before adding er.
5 colder Two places are compared, so use er rather than more.
6 busiest Busy changes y to i before est, and the comes first.
7 more expensive Expensive has three syllables and takes more.
8 worse Bad has the irregular comparative worse; even only adds emphasis.
9 more important Important takes more; never add er on top of more.
10 She is taller than her brother. Never use more together with er; choose one.

04 What to do after marking

  • After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
  • Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
  • Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
