03 Answers and one-line notes

# Answer One-line note
1 taller Two people compared take the comparative, so tall adds er.
2 heavier Heavy drops y before ier.
3 highest Covering the whole range needs the superlative highest.
4 more expensive Expensive has three syllables, so it takes more.
5 worst Bad has the irregular superlative worst.
6 better Good has the irregular comparative better.
7 most carefully An adverb describing a verb takes most for the superlative.
8 colder and colder A change that keeps growing repeats the comparative with and.
9 less Less is the comparative of little and means not as much.
10 This dress is the cheapest in the shop. Most and est never combine; keep one superlative marker only.

04 What to do after marking

  • After marking, redo only the wrong items and write down which step went wrong (formula, unit, or misread number).
  • Repeat the same item two days later; move to the next paper only when both attempts are correct.
  • Parents only need the answer and note columns; there is no need to explain every item.
